Hey friends!
We are just back from another nice 42km #cycling loop. Lots of headwind, lots of up and down and a little mistake in starting the tour at the highest point of the loop. The final, long ascent was a bit... Not so much fun.
But the views were just ace, more streets than yesterday but very few traffic! I was rather happy to have sun cream today.
Just a great Sunday!

A man is shown wearing a bicycle helmet while standing on a road. The man is smiling. The background consists of a cloudy sky, trees, grass, and a grey road. The man is the main focus of the image, with a bicycle helmet visible on his head. The image suggests that the man is outdoors, possibly riding a bike or preparing to do so. The man is also holding something, likely a phone, as he seems to be taking a selfie. The image captures a moment of joy and outdoor activity.
A serene and picturesque scene of a large grassy field filled with lush green vegetation and dotted with tall trees under a clear blue sky. The field stretches out into the distance, creating a peaceful and tranquil setting. The dominant colors in the image are green and white, with the accent color being a deep blue. The image captures the essence of a beautiful outdoor landscape, with a mix of meadows, trees, and open sky. The overall composition is harmonious and inviting, evoking feelings o…

#30DaysOfBiking, Day 28 = #SPEZI24, Day 2: Rode my KMX recumbent trike to #SPEZI (2x 4km) and rode each of the following bikes at least once through the 750m test course: A

"Big Brompty", a black Brompton with enlarged frame, forh and chainstay to accommodate very narrow 24" road wheels.

Was for sale from private.
"Sofie" a red, front wheel driven short wheelbase recumbent with an aerodynamic wooden box in the back which also provides the seat. It has lettering on the box that says "Sofie made by holzwurm 2024".

A visitor's bicycle.
Zarabike, an Italian delta layout recumbent trike which can tilt when riding through curves. Shown tilted to the left.

A product shown at the fair.
"Ride your Bed" (RyB, campcycle.ch), an oval-ish 50kg folding caravan with a canvas top for use with e-bikes.

A product shown at the fair.

RIP Daniel #Kahneman. Thoughts from last year:
"...*Thinking, Fast and Slow* was a life-changer for me. As soon as I read it in 2013, I urged colleagues to read it, even convening a book club."
"I can *feel* the move in my mind from the constant important work of System 1 to the deliberative work of System 2. Knowing how often my intuition has been a hindrance to my understanding of the world, I welcome the feeling of going to the place where the adult is in charge."

Kris @… goes into a very important issue here (in German):
Since "AI" has become the thing to do, no cloud platform is neutral anymore (they never fully were, try hosting warez there, but for your own content they mostly were): They all "need" (as in want) to use your work as training data for their neural networks - especially work that's not "…

I wrote a brief review of @… 's book the logic of war. Absolutely essential reading to understand the world we live in today.
A pity it's only in Danish: please translate it!
Book number 8 of 2024

A specific achievement: check off all the following train stops in a single journey:
#Poznań Dębiec
• Poznań Dębina
• Łódź Dąbrowa
(all the district names refer to the oak tree)
And I don't mind just passing through them, but actually getting off at Dębiec and taking the change at Dębina. It's roughly a 1 km walk over a non-colliding route, which is usually safer than running between platforms on the main station.

20th Anniversary – probably
In 2004 I found myself unemployed. By some strange coincidence this morning I read a post from Ben Parfitt "Thanks for the Great Ride". It seems that just as I was looking for a new job he had found one: "my new capacity as a resource policy analyst with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, BC Office." I wasn't exactly clear on the precise date of either event, so I went looking in my filing cabinet and come across this docume…

Donald stomped through the city like he was King Kong.
He built Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue with ready-mix cement from the mob, the “Concrete Club”, they called it, provided by Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno, boss of the Genovese crime family, the client of Roy Cohn, and under the supervision of teamster boss John Cody, under the control of Paul Castellano, boss of the Gambino crime family.
Cody bought an apartment for his mistress in the completed building without filing a loan ap…

Posted books 6 7 on the blog.
Mariane Satrapi's beautifully observed embroideries and an investigation into the benefits of walking by a danish public health professor. Both worth a look...
Dunno what it means, but this year so far I've only read 2 books written by men? Coincidence? Probably.
But interesting nonetheless.
